With Summer very nearly upon us, along with the Queen's Jubilee events, what better way to celebrate than with a good old fashioned outdoor gathering!

Eating outside in the sunshine always make me think of the Teddy Bear's Picnic song and I thought I would share some of the vintage miniature teddy bear chairs we have!

The classic rocking chair style is found across many cultures, but the Americans are credited with the invention in 1710. The beginning of the rocking chair concept began when skates were attached to the bottom of an English Yorkshire Windsor chair in 1725 and the style quickly evolved into the various designs we see today.

The high chair is a clever little item as it converts from feeding station to play area in one swift move; known as metamorphic! These would have been used in doll's houses and for teddy bears by many children over the years! We are not sure of the age but these were very popular in the early 20th century.

And finally the Art Deco style wicker chair! A stylish piece of furniture very popular in the 1930s and this piece is very likely from that era. It seems anything that was popular was made into mini versions for bears and doll's houses.

So if you DO go down to the woods today, make sure to keep your eyes open for picnicking teddy bears in vintage chairs!
